The IV International Piano Competition will take place in Almaty from December 1 to December 8, 2008.
The participants at the age of 18 to 32 years inclusively can take part in the competition. The age of participants will be defined on December 1.
The competition consist of three rounds: two solo recitals, chamber music and a final performance with orchestral accompaniment. All rounds will be open to the public.
The order in which participants appear shall be determined by drawing lots, and will remain in effect untill the end of the final round.
Winners of the competition are required to perform in the closing concert of the Competition without financial compensation.
Participants of the Competition will not receive financial compensation for their appearances during the Competition, as well as they will not receive financial compensation for any use of recordings or video broadcasts of their appearances.
The organizers of the Competition will retain the rights to all audio and video recordings of the Competition proceedings, as well as the right to broadcast them.
The participant’s arrival and the drawing lots will be held on November 30, 2008, at 18.00.
The opening of the Competition will be held on December 1, 2008, at 10.00.
The closing concert and awarding ceremony will take place on December 8, 2008 at 16.00 in Big Hall of the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy.
The application procedure:
Application forms for participation in the Competition should be presented before October 20, 2008 (the date to be defined by the postage stamp).
Confirmation on admission of candidates as Contest participants shall be sent to them by Organizing Committee no later than November 1, 2008.

The application must include:
- a photocopy of the applicant’s passport or another official form of identification that confirms the applicant’s date of birth;
- curriculum vitae, press reports on performing activity (if any);
- certificate of musical education (copy);
- photocopies of diplomas and awards from other competitions;
- 2 colour photographs sized 6x9 cm, the applicant’s first and last name should be written on the back of the photographs;
- a programme of performance at the Competition based on chronological principle with the indication of duration of each piece.
Financial terms
Participants must arrive in Almaty according to the dates indicated by the organizers of the Competition in the official invitation.
The Application fee is:
100 Euro - for foreigners
$ 100 US - for residents of CIS countries
$ 50 US – for residents of Kazakhstan
The application fee is nonrefundable.
The accommodation for participants will be booked by Organizing Committee.
The trip, accommodation and meals will be paid by participants.
The Organizing Committee will pay for accommodation and meals of participants, who are admitted to the third round. Participants, not admitted to the second and third round, as well as accompanying persons may stay in Almaty till the end of the competition at their own expense.
The conservatory will offer practicing facilities free of charge to all participants.
The Competition prizes
The following prizes have been established by the Organizing Committee:
First prize - $ 20.000,00 US
Second prize - $ 10.000,00 US
Third prize - $ 5.000,00 US
Diploma - $ 1.000,00 US

The jury will be formed of famous pedagogues, performers, art-historians, musical critics and art-managers from the USA, Europe, Asia, Russia and Kazakhstan.
The Jury has the option to divide the prizes or not award any of them.
The decisions of the Jury are not subject to any review.
The prize money for the Competition laureates will be paid in national currency.
