General Provisions of the
V International Piano Competition in Almaty
1. The V International Piano Competition
will take place in Almaty from November 15 to November 23, 2011. The founders of
this competition are The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic
of Kazakhstan, The Kurmangazy
Kazakh National Conservatory.
2. The participants at the age of 18 to 32 years
inclusively can take part in the competition. The age of participants will be
defined on November 15.
3. Laureates of the first and second premiums of the previous four
competitions can not take part in current competition.
4. Competitors who are admitted to the second round will be compensated with the amount of ($300) for their air ticket. Competitors are expected to provide the ticket and invoice in order to receive the refund.
The Organizing
committee of this competition provides free residence in hotels or in Kazakh
families only for participants, who will be admitted to the second and third round
of competition.
Participants of the second
round, who will not get the final circle, can live in hotel till expiration of
competition due to Organizing committee.
5. The participants,
who will not be admitted to the second round, will defray all expenses for journey
and residence by themselves. Seats of residing in Almaty can preliminary be
reserved by Organizing committee of competition

6. Foreign participants
will be responsible for obtaining their passports and any necessary visas. They
should apply at the nearest Kazakh Consulate upon receiving a formal invitation
to the Competition.
7. The competition consist of
three rounds: two solo recitals, chamber music and a final performance with
orchestral accompaniment. All rounds will be open to the public.
8. The order in which
participants appear shall be determined by drawing lots, and will remain in
effect until the end of the final round.
9. Winners of the
competition are required to perform in the closing concert of the Competition
without financial compensation.
10. Participants of
the Competition will not receive financial compensation for their appearances
during the Competition, as well as they will not receive financial
compensation for any use of recordings or video broadcasts of their
appearances.
11. The organizers of the Competition will retain
the rights to all audio and video recordings of the Competition proceedings, as
well as the right to broadcast them.
12. The
participant’s arrival will be held on November 14-15, 2011.
13. The opening of
the Competition and the drawing lots will be held on
November 15, 2011,
at 19.00.
14. The closing
concert and awarding ceremony will take place on November 23, at 19.00.

16. The placed information on
official web-site of competition (www.pianocompetition.kz) is correct at the
moment of the publication. Thus the Organizing committee reserves the right to
make any changes if it is required due to some circumstances, but not later
than in two months prior to the beginning of competition.
The application procedure:
1. The application
form for participation has to be provided in Organizing committee not later than October 10, 2011 online or by
e-mail or post.
2. The date to be defined by the postage stamp.
3. Confirmation on admission of candidates as Contest
participants shall be sent to them by Organizing Committee no later than October
15, 2011.
The
application must include:
- a photocopy of the
applicant’s passport or another official form of identification that
confirms the applicant’s date of birth;
- curriculum vitae, press
reports on performing activity (if any);
- certificate of musical
education (copy);
- photocopies of diplomas
and awards from other competitions;
- Color photos, preferably in a digital format with
permit not less than 300 dpi, including one close up photo should be
written on the back of the photographs;
- a programme of
performance at the Competition based on chronological principle with the
indication of duration of each piece.

Financial
arrangements:
1. Participants
must arrive in Almaty according to the dates indicated by the organizers of the
Competition in the official invitation.
2.
Admission fee at the rate of 100 USD is paid
in cash by competitors are allowed to take part in first round after arriving
on competition during registration. Admission fee is paid in tenge according to
official exchange rate of National Bank of Kazakhstan at date of registration.
* Admission fee is
spent for organizational expenses of competition..
3. The
accommodation for participants will be booked by Organizing Committee.
The trip, accommodation and meals will be paid by
participants.
4. If the competitors was admitted to the second and third circle of the
competition, the expenses of the air tickets or the railway tickets (approximately
300$) will be partially compensated, and also Organizing Committee will provide
free residence in hotels or in Kazakh families
5. Participants, not admitted to the second and third
round, as well as accompanying persons may stay in Almaty till the end of the
competition at their own expense.
6. The conservatory will offer practicing facilities free
of charge to all participants.
