Our dear contestants!
As the VIII Almaty International Piano Competition approaches, we, as usual, reflect on why we are organizing it, investing incredible amounts of time and energy.
What is the philosophy, idea, strategy of our competition?
The answers to these questions do not in rational dimention.
We at all do not possess the commercial element — the one that becomes more and more dominant in a number of such events.
We do not have ambitions to be added to the range of acclaimed competitions with big names and history.
Yet we do not lower the level of difficulty of our program so that we could attract more contestants.
We do our best, with rare exceptions, to keep our jury committee composition different each competition, so that the width of present global traditions, schools and impressions could find their place…
Every year we improve living conditions of the contestants, agreeing on their free of charge accomodation in hotels or in supporting our competition host families, we also pay in part for the air-tickets.
In short, we experience our creative project that’s been active for so many years as something that is truly objective in its nature, without self-interest intentions.
Of course, we are idealists, romantics! We manage to stay like that thanks to the financial support of the State, without the need to meet any commercial challenges.
However, if we take a broader look, we can see the long-term goals of our State, its policy in the area of culture. It is obvious that the country is caring for creating the necessary conditions for development of the young generation talents, and this, in return reinforces the positive image and authority of the country throughout the global community.
Then, the goals of the conservatory, of the Piano competition, positions of our Ministry of Culture and Sports, of our wonderful sponsors and supporters are all magically aligned for the sake of promoting quality cultural processes!
We, with our traditional hospitality are inviting you, our dear pianists to shine bright with your talents, achievements, finding your grateful listeners and admirers, and getting a charge of inspiration at the competition auditions.
Wishing you the best of luck in your beautiful artistic journey!
