The Kazakh Kurmangazy National Conservatory spends the International competition of pianists in fourth time, from December, 1 till December, 8th of 2008 in the city of Almaty - for graduates and students of the best musical educational institutions from all the world. It will be the unusual competition, called to change the attitude to the international competitions of musicians which to the beginning of XXI century have turned to the ordinary action interesting only to participants, to their teachers and a narrow circle of professionals. Our competition is aimed at modernizing this tradition and to become the innovative musical event which is carrying away executors and public by democratic character of refereeing, an openness and activity of dialogue with mass-media, and also beauty and the present of decorating and scenic behaviour. In this year for maintenance of special objectivity and impartiality of refereeing, the format of competition assumes work of both professional and alternative (amateur) jury.

I am confident, that eight December days become a greater holiday on which all of us shall open for themselves a lot of new and interesting music and musicians. This time will be filled by cooperation of competitors, teachers, the international jury, the visitors, empathizing public and all fans of music! We hope very much, that conditions and the program of competition will be interesting to you and we shall hear more than talented youth from the different countries of the world!
